Adopt A Soldier
If you are interested in Adopting A Soldier, exchanging mail with a soldier, sending care packages to a soldier, I strongly encourage you to check out the Adopt A Soldier program at Operation AC. Operation AC is a non-profit organization established by a Marine Mom (Frankie Mayo) who just wants to see that the deployed sons and daughters of this country receive care and contact from the citizens they have dedicated their lives to serve and protect.
In her latest update, June 03, 2004, Frankie Mayo states that they have more soldiers requesting to be "adopted" than they have "adoptive parents". Please do not let these soldiers' calls go answered.
Extending a loving hand to these young men and women is not a commentary on your feelings of this (or any) war -- people on both sides of these most difficult and trying times have offered their hearts and handshakes to the men and women in uniform.
