Damascus Knives
Willing to pay for excellence? Let me tell you about these culinary knives I found.
These are Damascus Knives and they come from a company that specializes in high quality Japanese tools. I have no real interest in quality woodworking tools, but as I skimmed their catalogue, my eyes fell on some gorgeous kitchen knives.
I had to have one -- at the requested price, I only hoped the knife I ordered would be as functional as it was beautiful.
I was NOT disappointed. The knife has an incredibly sharp blade and holds a razor edge amazingly well. And I do mean razor edge -- I sliced my finger with this puppy one time and the cut was so fine I didn't even realize I'd cut myself until I noticed the, ahem, red tinge on the knife.
Granted, as with any fine knife, it does require care and occasional sharpening (a swipe or two across a sharpening stone or steel).
I love my one Damascus knife... and I've got by birthday wish list set up for the next five or six years.
