Mission Floor Lamp

mission floor lamp Well, the Mission Style Table Lamp was in desperate need of a floor lamp mate, so I headed back to Bellacor.

The pictured lamp is the torchiere from the "San Gabriel Mica" series and it is FABULOUS. (The San Gabriel collection includes additional matching floor lamps and table lamps.)

The finish on the model I bought is dark, yet warm, and the shade is a fabulous mica and metal construction that casts a lovely warm orangey-yellow glow. This lamp takes a 150-watt three way bulb.

The shade and pole/base arrived in separate boxes -- the pole in four pieces tightly wrapped in plastic to protect the finish.* I was concerned about the pole being in four pieces, but the pieces screw together tightly and the joints are strong and secure -- not at all wobbly.

Be sure to note that at 71" high, this lamp is taller than your average department store floor lamp, and makes a dramatic addition to any room.

I absolutely postively love this floor lamp, no reservations. And at the time I purchased, it was $88.00 -- IMO, a great price on this mission torchiere.

*LEARN FROM ME: DO NOT just whip out a pair of scissors to slice the protective plastic off the pole. By all means, use scissors, just use care that you don't scrape the blades across the pole -- scraping the pole means damaging the finish... trust me on this one.

"Mission Style" furniture originated in the mid-1890's in the United States. Several design movements in and around that time were an anti-industrial rebellion against mass manufacturing and design of furniture, "Mission Style" was one such movement.
