Operation Shrek

When I was a kid, I asked for the original Operation Game several Christmas seasons in a row. NEVER GOT IT.

I never knew why I didn't get it, but apparently it bothered me for longer than was reasonable. As an adult, I asked my mother about it... she looked at me blankly and said "I have no idea..." She wasn't even sure what I was talking about.

But that year at Christmas I unwrapped one special package and shrieked with glee -- OPERATION! Mother had hunted the old board game down. I was thrilled.

And when I was just bopping about Amazon, I shrieked again. I adored the movie Shrek and now Shrek has replaced (temporarily, I'm sure) "Cavity Sam" as the patient on the table of the OPERATION board game.

This odd union of board game and movie makes me smirk and while I'm not sure why, it's a happy smirk.
