Send a telegram? If you're like me, when you realize that Western Union still has a telegram service, you think "Who the heck sends telegrams?" Nobody that I know.

Which started me thinking -- what a wonderfully unusual way to send birthday greetings, congratulations, happy anniversary thoughts, and more. Odds are, if the recipient is under the age of sixty, they've never received a telegram before.

The telegram is well presented (see picture above), inexpensive ($14.99), is a delightfully nostalgic touch, conveys your personal message, and also serves as a wonderful keepsake of your thoughtfulness.

And for all the procrastinator's out there? Here's a last minute gift that they won't be expecting! You can send telegrams online as late as the day before you need the telegram to arrive (but no Saturday or Sunday deliveries).
