Travel Go Board Game

go board game travel version Fans of the ancient game of go (igo) know there's one major difficulty when starting out -- the boards and playing pieces are damn expensive. And they're usually bulky and don't travel well -- and you know have to go somewhere to meet up with people to play Go.

I know. We have two go boards (and sets of stones) in our house and they weren't cheap and they're a PITA to pack.

Which is why I was happy to find these inexpensive, fold up, travel versions of the go board game. At the time of this review, the smaller of the travel versions is on sale for $34.99 (reg. $39.99).

The pieces are plastic, so they won't satisfy fussy players, but for beginners, young players, and travelers, they're a great option to get into the game without breaking the bank.

The Hikaru fans in your household will also enjoy the traditional board (goban) with legs -- perfect for sitting on the floor (or tatami mats).

Price: at the time of this review
